I’m thrilled to officially announce that I’ll be debuting the role of Angelina (Cinderella) in Buffalo Opera Unlimited’s production of Rossini’s La Cenerentola in their upcoming 2019-2020 season. The performances will be held on Friday, November 1 at 8:00pm and Sunday, November 3 at 2:30pm in Rockwell Hall Performing Arts Center at Buffalo State College.

La Cenerentola is the Italian version of Cinderella based on the fairy-tale Cendrillon by Charles Perrault. While the opera still has some familiar elements in common with the classic fairy-tale (such as a charming prince and two wicked stepsisters), it replaces the evil stepmother with a buffo stepfather, and instead of a magical fairy godmother, the prince’s philosopher tutor ensures that Angelina attends the ball. The score features Rossini’s signature bel canto coloratura which culminates in Angelina’s glittering final aria “Non piu mesta.”
